The social media platform X experienced a widespread service disruption on Monday, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform in several countries.
According to outage-tracking website Downdetector, more than 9,800 users had reported problems with the platform as of 10:18 a.m. Eastern Time.
The outage was not limited to the United States. More than 1,300 users in Canada and over 1,400 users in the United Kingdom also reported experiencing issues with the platform during the disruption.
Downdetector compiles outage reports submitted by users, meaning the actual number of affected users may be higher than the reported figures.
X has not publicly disclosed the cause of the outage. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the incident.
The disruption adds to a series of service interruptions that have affected the platform in recent months as it continues to operate under the ownership of Elon Musk.
